@UPnz Co-Founder Match Making Event #MatchUPnz Takeaways

Just came back from Co-Founder Match Making Event Organised by Unlimited Potential and felt the same with GeniusNet. It was an interesting event, talked myself to death (as many people as I can) and met some really nice people (by that I mean people I could actually work with, sorry a little picky now after 2.5 years of trying)

It was an event for people with different skills who wants to find someone to start up a company with. Paul has written a nice article Finder, Minder, Grinder which explains the idea very well.

As a grinder, my job was to talk to as many Finders and Minders. And I finished the event with 3 Minders and 3 Finders, also 2 Advisors (people have done startup before). It was very challenging experience, and I definitely met some people that I will be talking to in the near future.

The biggest take away was from Melissa Clark-Raynolds (the CEO of MiniMonos)’s speech.

  • Finding people you can absolutely trust on anything to start the company
  • Only accept investment from people who has the same value proposition as the company
  • Surround great mentors around you, even it requires stalking :-)

and finally I quote her ”If you can’t see anything great from others, you will never find it from yourself”.
